Jackie Cleveland (Acrylic and Watercolour)
I have always enjoyed painting people; in major works with people in them, people on cards, and now children in illustrations of children's books created for my grandchildren. I wrote and illustrated a children's book when I was a child, then again when my own children were small, and now I can check out all sorts of children's books from the library and see how others do it to improve my technique.
In the past I have painted seascapes and historical pictures from old photographs with acrylic. I have also used watercolour when painting outdoors, and to explore at-the-moment trials in luck, I would do a mono print. A constant study of composition and figure management was derived from the endless card making for birthdays and holidays, which has now blossomed into illustration.
